Text Eater Snake — Chrome Extension

The short version: Text Eater Snake collects no data. Nothing you do ever leaves your computer.

01. Introduction

Text Eater Snake ("the extension") is a browser game published by Tushar Rayamajhi on the Chrome Web Store. It turns the webpage in your current tab into a temporary, playable Snake game in which the snake "eats" the visible text characters. The page is fully restored when the game ends. This policy explains what data the extension handles.

02. What the Extension Does NOT Do

  • It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information.
  • It does not track your browsing history or the pages you visit.
  • It does not read, store, or transmit the content of webpages. Page text is only measured locally, in memory, while a game is running, and is fully restored when the game ends.
  • It does not use analytics, telemetry, cookies, fingerprinting, or advertising of any kind.
  • It does not make any network requests. There is no server.
  • It does not load or execute remote code.

03. What Is Stored Locally on Your Device

The extension uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to save, on your device only:

  • Your game settings (sound on/off, hardcore mode, skin, game mode, speed, highlight preference).
  • Your best score per website (stored against the site's hostname, e.g. en.wikipedia.org, so the game can show "your best on this site").

This data never leaves your browser. You can erase it at any time by removing the extension, which deletes all of its stored data.

04. Permissions Explained

activeTab

Lets the game run only in the tab where you click "Start Game". The extension has no access to any tab until you click.

scripting

Injects the game script and styles into the current tab, on demand, when you start a game.

storage

Saves your settings and per-site best scores locally on your device.

05. Changes to This Privacy Policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this same URL with a new effective date. Since the extension collects nothing, meaningful changes are unlikely.
